My Heart Burns and Burns…

Begüm sets out to return home after a busy day. She has had a difficult day. She had another boring day at work with her manager with whom she cannot get along. She doesn't really like her job either. She reminds herself that working as an accountant is boring enough. She cannot quit her job because of her economic constraints.

One evening after work, she sets off with her coffee in her hand and the things she has to do in her mind. Then she switches on the radio and calls her mother while a light music is on. After talking for a while, she hangs up the phone. Her mother's troubles and complaints never end. She looks at the phone and thinks of calling one of her friends. She guesses what they will tell her and she decides not to call them. The traffic moves step by step, as if the whole of Istanbul is on its way. Begüm starts to drink her coffee faster for fear of falling asleep. Of course, whatever she does is useless... She pays for going to bed late at night by fighting a hard battle with her eyelids.

Recently, she has been experiencing problems in many areas and in unexpected ways. She is facing different problems in her personal life as well as at work. The more she tries to solve them, the more she feels she is drowning in them. At such times, she cannot sleep at night. After the traffic is finally cleared, she accelerates and drives most of the way. A childish joy, a strange excitement builds up inside her. She smiles as she dreams of lying down in her pajamas after a hot shower. She thinks that if she has a nice meal, she will feel a little better.

Even though she tries to distract herself by watching the surroundings, she is now stuck in her mind. She cannot close the thought bubbles that pop up one after another in her mind. They start to fall on her like an avalanche and finally she decides to focus. “There is such a thing as death...” she says and starts thinking about the moment she died. After a few minutes she says to herself: “God save me...” as a few tears fall from her eyes. Along with her sadness comes a strange sense of relief. All her problems remain in the back pages of her mind; she starts to think of images and sounds.

While she is immersed in the dark depths of her thoughts, she is startled by the honking of a horn coming from behind. After complaining to the honkers, she continues on the road in a hurry. Her coffee spills on her, her phone falls on the ground. She cannot sleep anymore. She cleans up the spilled coffee and turns down the volume of the radio. Now she has an issue on her mind that will keep her awake all night: “Death is such a distant concept in my life. It is as if some unfortunates are lying in cemeteries. As if me and my loved ones will be in this world forever. Why do I take this life so seriously? Won't it all pass in an instant?”

The Experiential Design Teaching says: “Everything in this life is temporary.”

People think that their problems and happy moments will always be permanent. But both pain and pleasure are temporary. Every beginning has an end. There are no unsolvable problems or pleasures that last forever. When people forget impermanence, they think that their problems will never end. She starts to get lost in his troubles. When you remember the temporality, it is easier to overcome your troubles. In addition to all these, when you learn strategies on how to solve problems, the comfort of life increases. Accepting temporality is almost a secret key to many solutions.

We wish to be among those who react correctly instead of drifting in the transience of life.

Good job on your pen
If a person really knew that this life was temporary, most of them would regret what they did.
